What this line is to us

Liteline is a family-owned manufacturer that has made lighting in Canada since 1979, run today by the founder’s children from its headquarters in Richmond Hill, Ontario. We have represented it since August 2020.

We reach for it when a project needs quality across the whole ceiling, not only in the feature room. Sigma and LUNA downlights, KLICK track, Genesis commercial recessed, and EDGE and FORUM panels cover most of what a commercial ceiling asks for, from one manufacturer, on one purchase order. The downlights are what the people who notice these things notice: regressed apertures that keep the source out of sight, round and square trims in black or white, and 90+ CRI, so timber, art and skin read true.

Every head aimed at a different problem

At the Federation of Law Societies, a wall of fourteen law society crests is lit from Liteline track with the heads turned off-axis, so any glare bounces away from whoever stands in front of it. In the staff lounge, sixteen more heads sit up inside the coffers of a timber waffle ceiling, aimed at the wood so the ceiling reads as a lit structure instead of a dark grid against the windows. Track earns its place here because each head can be pointed at its own job.

Track is the fixture that survives a change of mind

At Osler’s Ottawa office a run of KLICK track grazes the art, each head turned to the piece in front of it rather than to the room. Once the collection was hung, dozens more heads went up late in the job. On a recessed layout that would have meant new holes in a finished ceiling. On KLICK the modules snap into the powered track by hand, which is why a change that size stayed small.

Carleton University Teraanga Commons Food Hall, Ottawa

At Teraanga Commons, the Carleton University food hall, KLICK track runs over the serving stations. Menus, signage and counter layouts in a food hall change far more often than its ceiling does, and a fixed downlight keeps lighting the spot where the counter used to be. Heads on track follow the counter, so the food and the people serving it stay properly lit.

Ottawa Forest and Nature School, Ottawa

Soft enough for a nap room

At the Ottawa Forest and Nature School, a childcare centre in the Greenbelt, Sigma2 downlights carry the classrooms and the corridors. These rooms are used for sleep as well as play, so the light had to stay soft and out of the eyeline. Sigma comes in regressed versions at 90+ CRI, which keeps the source up inside the housing, and in dim-to-warm, which drifts warmer as it dims instead of going grey.

What we do on a Liteline job

On this line our time goes into the schedule. We select the families and lay them out against the reflected ceiling plan, run the photometrics, and price through your distributor. We check every ordering code against QuickShip before it goes on the drawing, follow lead times as the job moves, and propose a substitution when a date is at risk rather than after it has slipped. On site we help aim the track, and we come back when something does not look right. Liteline samples are in our Ottawa showroom, so a finish or a colour temperature can be settled in person.

QuickShip is the part that decides dates. In-stock SKUs ship within two business days of the order and made-to-order SKUs within seven, for up to 100 pieces, but only when every option on the ordering code comes from the blue-shaded side of Liteline’s ordering guide. One option from outside it and the whole SKU drops out of the programme. That is the first thing we look for.

Procurement, and what made in Canada means on this line

Liteline is Canadian-owned and Canadian-made. A team of about 65 people engineers, wires, tests and finishes fixtures in more than 20,000 square feet of dedicated manufacturing space in Richmond Hill, installing the LED boards in-house, from a bill of materials that mixes Canadian and imported components. A second distribution centre opened in Langley, British Columbia, in 2022. When a public bid asks where each major good comes from, we confirm the origin of the specific SKUs on your schedule rather than answering for the brand.

Two things worth knowing before you draw

Controls. LUNA 56 PRO dims on 0–10 V, DALI and Lutron’s Hi-Lume 1% EcoSystem, and the Genesis recessed series adds Lutron Athena tunable white, Casambi and DMX. That makes Liteline one of the easier lines to put under a Lutron system, which matters because Lutron is the control line we commission most.

Voltage and output. Genesis runs at 347 V as well as 120–277 V, from 1,000 to 9,000 lumens, wet-location rated to IP66. On a Canadian commercial floor fed at 347 V that saves a transformer, and the top of the range lights a tall lobby from fewer points.

Sigma	Architectural recessed downlights: regressed, pinhole, gimbal, wall-wash and slope versions, round and square, at 90+ CRI. The 2-inch reaches 1,600 lumens and select models 4,400. Dim-to-warm is available.
LUNA	Slim recessed downlights for where a housing will not fit. LUNA 56 PRO is IC-rated, airtight and wet-location, with an on-fixture switch from 2700K to 5000K. A gimbal version and a fire-rated LUNA Fire sit alongside it.
Genesis	Commercial recessed downlights and cylinders from 1,000 to 9,000 lumens at 90 CRI, with 347 V, IP66 and an emergency battery option.
KLICK	Powered track with modules that snap in and out: adjustable spots, double spots, lightbars and pendants. Surface, recessed into drywall, trimless or suspended, with corner pieces for continuous runs.
EDGE	Lay-in panels for a T-bar grid that carry the light to the edge of the tile.
FORUM	LED panels and linear for general office and back-of-house.
SlimLED	Ultra-thin downlights for ceilings with almost no depth above. The source sits at the ceiling plane, so it trades glare control for fit.

Good to know before you specify

LUNA’s colour temperature is set by a switch on the fixture, not by the part number. That is convenient for stock, and it means the schedule has to say which setting each room gets, or one corridor ends up at three colour temperatures. We write the setting on the schedule.

Warranty terms differ by family, from one year to lifetime, and QuickShip eligibility is decided option by option. We confirm both against the sheet for your SKU while the schedule is still open.
