Carleton University Teraanga Hall – Dining Lighting by Flux Lighting

The Carleton University Teraanga Hall renovation is one of Ottawa’s most exciting campus dining projects. Flux Lighting worked closely with Watson MacEwen Teramura Architects to deliver lighting that fits the space perfectly. Together, the team created a warm, lively dining hall that serves thousands of Carleton students every day.

The redesigned hall features a wide range of food stations. These include an open grill, a ramen bar, a bubble tea café, and an allergen-free station. Each zone in the Carleton University Teraanga Hall needed its own lighting feel. Therefore, Flux chose fixtures that balance bright task lighting with a cozy, restaurant-style atmosphere. As a result, the space feels welcoming rather than institutional.

Good lighting also means comfort over long periods. So Flux made sure illumination stays even across all dining and service areas throughout the day. In addition, the fixture choices support the bold, high-energy vibe of the space without causing glare or harsh contrast.

The hall also features striking murals by local Ottawa artists. Furthermore, the interior uses rich materials and premium finishes throughout. Consequently, the lighting had to work with these details rather than overpower them. At the Carleton University Teraanga Hall, Flux used light to highlight textures and colours at every turn. The outcome is a modern dining space that students love to spend time in.

Finally, this project shows what Flux Lighting does best. We bring skill and care to every institutional and hospitality project we take on. From fixture selection to team coordination, Flux delivered a complete lighting solution for the Teraanga Hall dining experience. We are proud to have helped shape a space that feels less like a cafeteria and more like a place students want to be.
