Flux Spotlight: PureEdge Lighting
Most recessed fixtures arrive with a trim ring, because the ring is what hides the cut. PureEdge Lighting builds the other kind. Their plaster-in fixtures go in before the drywall is finished and get skimmed over in the mud coat, so what’s left on the ceiling is a line of light with no visible edge around it. Nothing frames it, and nothing dates it.
Two lines, pulling opposite ways
The company runs two lines that pull in opposite directions on purpose. Pure Lighting is the half that disappears: plaster-in linear like TruLine, and the Stratus grazer, which washes a wall from a slot you can’t pick out once the painter has been through. Edge Lighting is the half you are meant to notice — decorative pendants, mirror and vanity fixtures like Alice, and the Cirrus monorail and magnetic systems that carry small heads and pendants along a run.
What plaster-in buys on a job
What the plaster-in approach buys on a job is one less thing in the way. Set a slot close to a stone or plaster wall and the light rakes across the texture rather than flattening it, and because the housing carries no trim, the ceiling still reads as a ceiling. On a room where the architecture is the point, a gallery wall or a millwork run or a stair, that’s usually the whole argument.
What customizing costs
Edge is where the customizing happens. The trade is worth naming: a run assembled from parts — a profile, heads, a canopy, a finish — takes longer to specify than a catalogue number, and it takes longer to arrive. What you get back is a fixture that fits the room instead of a room planned around the fixture. We carry both lines because most projects want one of each.
