What it does for a space

Ketra tunes across the whole white range and into colour, so one set of fixtures can carry a room from morning through to close. The ceiling never changes. The light does.

For the people in the room that shows up as comfort — light that suits the task in front of them and the hour they are in, without anyone reaching for a keypad. For the room itself it shows up as accuracy: wood, stone, textiles, artwork and skin tones reading the way the design intended, and going on reading that way.

It runs as part of a Lutron system, so the light, the shades and the daily schedule behave as one thing rather than three.

It holds its colour point across a room and over the life of the installation, so one downlight never drifts away from the one beside it.

It dims to 0.1 per cent and stays smooth there — what a boardroom, a lecture theatre or a lobby actually needs at the bottom of the curve.

Rooms where colour is the job

Galleries, retail, healthcare, boardrooms that will be on camera. In these spaces light sits closer to a measurement than a mood, and the gap between a scheme that reads as designed and one that reads as assembled is often a single fixture drifting away from its neighbours.

Lutron publishes that Ketra’s Color Lock monitors output 360 times per second to hold the point you set. In a gallery that is the difference between showing the work and showing the lighting.

A working day, not a light level

Lutron publishes a range of 1,400 K to 10,000 K plus saturated colour. The useful version of that number in a workplace is simpler: the light at four in the afternoon does not have to be the light at ten in the morning, and nobody has to think about it.

Teams tend to notice it as comfort rather than as technology. The room simply suits the hour they are in.

A venue that changes with the evening

At HISTORY, the two-thousand-capacity Live Nation venue in the ByWard Market, the backbar pendants are Visual Comfort Akova globes and each one carries a Ketra lamp. The fixtures stayed exactly what the interior designer chose. The light inside them moves with the room.

It is also the least disruptive way into this line on a project that has already picked its decorative fixtures. The fixture stays whatever the design intended, and the lamp does the work.

Why teams bring us in early

We help you work out which rooms this belongs in, size the layout and the photometry against the real ceiling, coordinate the control platform and the drivers underneath it, put the product in front of you in the showroom, and commission the scenes with the people who will live with them.

Full-spectrum light is a premium investment, and it pays back hardest in a few specific rooms. We would rather help you find those rooms while the budget still has somewhere to move.

Ketra is a Lutron brand rather than a separate manufacturer, so the control side sits under Lutron on our line card.

Good to know before you specify

The specifications are family-level. Downlights, lamps, track heads and linear differ in output, warranty and control compatibility, so we send the current data sheet for the family on your schedule rather than quoting one range-wide figure here.

Families have historically reached Lutron’s residential platform ahead of the commercial one. We confirm platform compatibility for the specific families on a project early, while the schedule is still easy to change.
