ISABEL BADER CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
Kingston, Ontario

The Isabel Bader building (part of Queen’s University) was inspired by the surrounding lake-side landscape. The stainless steel façade was inspired by the water and the monochromatic white/greys of the winter skies. Large quantities of the wood structure from the historic buildings was repurposed into interior finishes, as was local limestone used for repairs and new finishes. The iconic centre will help to shape the identity of the institution and the region, promoting the Arts and Humanities. Flux Lighting worked with N45 Architecture to highlight the building’s interior and exterior features with specially selected fixtures, bringing the building to life.
